PCN CooperBussmann - Polymer ESD Suppressor 0402ESDA-MLP7
Cooper Bussmann is changing the construction of part number 0402ESDA-MLP7, Polymer ESD Suppressor. The new package utilizes tin-plated via-less terminals while the existing package utilizes a gold-plated via terminal (see below). This change in terminal construction has no effect on product performance. There will be no change in the part number.
However, equivalent part 0402ESDA-MLP1 (new package), is available immediately.
The transition to the new package will take place on June 1, 2010. At that time, manufacturing of the existing package will end. We will continue to ship the existing package until inventory is depleted. If you prefer to accept the new construction earlier, please order part number 0402ESDA-MLP1.

SMD-LED KA-3020/KA-3020A series will move to EOL
Please be informed that Kingbright’s SMD-LED KA-3020/KA-3020A series will move to EOL (end of
life) status due to obsolete tooling. Kingbright will offer the new KA-3021 series for new project at the same price level as KA-3020 series. For existing projects we will continue to support the KA-3020/KA-3020A series until the end of April 2010.
For new projects only the new KA-3021 series should be used!
Kingbright’s new KA-3021 series has the same recommended soldering pattern as KA-3020 series. Customers can replace our KA-3020 series directly with the new KA-3021 series without changing design.
The appearances of KA-3020/KA-3020A and the new KA-3021:
The new KA-3021 series has the same dimensions of 3,0 mm x 2,0 mm, but the package is 0,1 mm thinner than KA-3020/KA-3020A series. The new KA-3021 series has slightly larger window than KA-3020/KA-3020A series for better light-extraction efficiency.
We will send you spec sheets and samples of the new KA-3021 series upon request.

PCN Kingbright: InGaN Chips und KPK Serie
1. InGaN Chips
For new cases requiring InGaN blue and green LEDs please promote the QB and ZG chips instead of PB and VG chips. These new chips offer equal brightness at lower cost. For example, the QB-K chip is the least expensive blue option Kingbright have ever offered. The latest QB chips have improved ESD resistance compared to previous versions, and the chip
suppliers provide Kingbright with patent protection for Europe.
We suggest the following alternatives:
2. KPK Series
KPK parts have reflectors that must be glued to the PCB by hand which causes high cost and
inconsistent quality. KPK parts are only 1% of the production volume at Kingbright but quality
issues have caused many problems. Therefore Kingbright will no longer promote any KPK parts
for new designs. Kingbright will continue to produce KPK parts only for the support of existing
designs. Please see the attached list “KPK, KA, KP cross.pdf” for the suggested KA and KP
equivalents for KPK parts in new design promotions.

PCN Kingbright SA/SC50-21 series
PRODUCT CHANGE NOTIFICATION
Hereby we have to inform you that the existing tooling for the SA/SC50-21 reflector is worn-out and will be replaced immediately with new tooling. Product made from this new tooling will have slightly different dimensions. Kingbright’s SA/SC50-21 series will now become obsolete and will be replaced by the new SA/SC50-31 series!
The old SA/SC50-21 display has dimensions of 108,0 mm (width) x 180,2 mm (height) x 15,6 mm (thickness) and a segment width of 8,8 mm. The new SA/SC50-31 series has dimensions of 107,5 mm (width) x 179,5 mm (height) x 15,2 mm (thickness) and a segment width of 9,0 mm. In addition the shape of the segments has been changed.
The pin layout of the new SA/SC50-31 series remains the same as for the now obsolete SA/SC50-21 series. Because SA/SC50-21 was not popular, Kingbright doesn’t keep stock of the reflectors. Because of the unexpectedly rapid wearing of the tooling, Kingbright will supply the new SA/SC50-31 series only!

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
im Zuge von technischen Modernisierungen in unserer eigenen Bandgalvanik haben wir
uns dafür entschieden, die bisher verwendete Kontaktoberfläche Gold (Au) durch Palladium Nickel (PdNi) zu ersetzen.
Technischer Hinweis
Die HARTING-Gruppe übernimmt die Verantwortung über die gesamte
Lebensdauer der Produkte. Die wichtigen Funktionen, welche die Produkte
in der Praxis erfüllen müssen, verlangen ein Höchstmaß an Sicherheit
und Zuverlässigkeit. So wird die dauerhafte Zuverlässigkeit geprüft, um
die Eignung der Produkte für den kundenspezifischen Einsatz
festzulegen. Die Korrosionsprüfung im Zusammenhang mit der mechanischen
Verschleißprüfung (Steckzyklen) ist dabei Hauptbestandteil unserer
Tests. Um sicherzustellen, dass die Kontaktoberfläche Palladium-Nickel
auch den Anforderungen der Spezifikation IEC-60 603-2 entspricht, ist
der Test „Industrieatmosphäre mit Verschleißprüfung (Korrosionsprüfung
mit strömendem Mischgas nach DIN EN 60068-2-60 Methode 4)“ durchgeführt
worden.
Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die spezifizierten Rd-Werte deutlich unterschritten werden.
Es ist sichergestellt, dass unsere DIN Messerleisten die Anforderungen der IEC 60 603-2
erfüllen.
Folgende Produkte/Baureihen sind bereits auf die neue Kontaktoberfläche umgestellt:

Yageo PCN Codierung R-Chips
Auf vielfachen Kundenwunsch und zur Vereinheitlichung des Bestellnummernsystems hat Yageo entschieden, das alle R-Chips am Ende des Bestellcodes den Suffix „L“, zur Kennzeichnung bleifreier Produkte, als festen Bestandteil aufweisen werden. Dies gilt für alle ab dem 01.06.09 produzierten R-Chips. Beispiele: RC0805FR-07100KL, YC164-JR-07470RL.
Diese Änderung hat keinerlei Auswirkung auf elektrische Eigenschaften und Qualität der Produkte. Die Yageo Material-Nr. mit "L" wird auf allen Dokumenten erscheinen.

Kingbright Photo-Interruptor temporär nicht verfügbar
Kunden haben in den vergangenen Monaten gelegentlich die Qualität der Kingbright
SMD Photo Interrupter bemängelt.
Bemängelt wurden gelegentliche Kleberückstände an den Gehäusen, die im schlimmsten Fall zur Fehlfunktion des Bauteiles führen können.
Dies betrifft die Artikelnummern KRB011, KRB014, KRB021 und KRB031.
Momentan ist Kingbright bemüht, im Werk umgehend entsprechende Verbesserungen im
Fertigungsprozess zu installieren. Solange diese Diskussionen nicht abgeschlossen sind und somit die Kingbright Electronic Europe GmbH keine 100%ige Gewährleistung für die o.g. Artikelnummern geben kann, werden diese aus dem Produktprogramm genommen.
